Sometimes, very rarely, people will start bleeding after taking mifepristone.
Mifepristone works by blocking the hormone progesterone that is necessary for a pregnancy to keep growing. Normally, the combination of mifepristone & misoprostol act together to mimic the body's process of miscarriage. Mifepristone blocks the hormone necessary for the body to grow, you wait 24-48 hours, and then take misoprostol to help create the cramping necessary to remove the contents of the uterus.
So what happens if you start bleeding early...after taking the mifepristone, but before taking misoprostol?
Even if it is before the 24-48 hours you had planned, start taking the misoprostol as soon as its convenient for you, and you have the space to do so. If your body has already start bleeding, you can take the misoprostol at any time to help support your body as it empties the contents of your uterus.
