There is actually a mifepristone registered at 300mg in the USA named Korlym. Because it is registered for Cushings Syndrome only, it has escaped the abortion debate altogether.
This is especially interesting, as doctors commonly use products off-label (meaning for indications other than it was initially registered for).
Cushing syndrome is rare, but mifepristone is one of many treatments.
Mifepristone is also a short-term solution for uterine fibroids, as it helps shrink fibroids and reduce symptoms.
As a contraceptive, mifepristone can be used at 25mg once a week to prevent pregnancy (skipping the week of menstruation) and also as an emergency contraceptive for 5 days following ejaculation sex at 25-50mg
Additional uses for mifepristone help to destigmatize the medication, similar to misoprostol, with its wide-ranging indications from gastric ulcers to post-partum hemorage.
